It is very important that YOU as the customer knows how to correctly oil and clean your CB hook system. It is important for you oil the hook on a regular bases.

  1. Remove your needle and unplug your machine!
Remove your stitch plate and clean between the feed dog rows, like it shows you in the picture below. Please refer to your manual if you do not remember how to take off the stitch plate.
  2. After you clean the feed dog open your bobbin door.
Please take out our bobbin case.
Push on the lever where the red arrow is pointing at. This will release your shuttle race cover.
  3. Open the cover.
  4. It is very well possible that when you opened the cover, the hook fell already out of the race. Then, you would see the picture below already. If not, grab the hook on the shaft (yellow arrow) and take it out.

You just took out the most important part of your sewing machine. This part picks up the needle thread and makes the stitch. If you drop this part on a tile floor and you break the hook-point the machine won't sew again. This part cost today over $100.00
    .
  5. Let's clean your hook race. Have a close look at the picture below and where the arrows are pointing at. The little groove in the corner of the race needs to be cleaned out all the way around. If your brush won't take take out all the "black stuff" that's in there, take a toothpick and scrape it out. (do not use a metal part to do this!!!)
  6. Now turn the handwheel 180 degrees and do the same to the other side of the race.
  7. Clean out all the dirt with a brush you just scraped out.
  8. Turn your handwheel again until you see the picture below.
  9. Now take your sewing machine oil and put a drop of oil in the same corner you just cleaned out. Picture below.
  10. Now we are ready to put the hook back into our machine.
Turn the hook on the table so it looks like in the picture below, grab on the shaft and put it back in its place in the race.
If you have problem that the hook is falling back out tilt your machine a little bit to the back, or even lay your machine on its back.

  11. Now close the shuttle race cover again. Please make sure the lever on the left side is hooked correctly. Now turn the handwheel a few times in sewing direction by hand to ensure everything is "normal". You do not feel a bind or hear a scratching noise.
  12. Insert the needle.
  13. Insert the bobbin case.... you are ready to go again.
