I have 4D embroidery software. How can I transfer a design to my 2140/44/70 and save it in my machine?

For a printer friendly version of this article, please click here.

First of all make sure your 4D Organizer (Send1) is set up in the 4D Configure correctly to your machine. Figure below. Select USB if your cable to the machine has an USB connector on the end. If you still have an old cable with a serial connector, please read and install the special cable as described right here and then select the correct Com port.

Set up 4D transfer

After the "Send1" is adjusted, you can open now the 4D Organizer. Figure below. As you can see, design "FM445" is selected. Now you can click on the icon (Send1) and the design will be transferred to the machine.

Now you will see on the machine that the file is transferring.

After the file is transferred this screen will come up.

File in machine

Touch the screen above or click o.k. and the screen will change to the embroidery layout. Picture below. Select "Save as" folder.

Touch save icon

On the pup up menu below, select Save as.

Save as

Let's take a look at the picture below. If you would click on the o.k. button, the design would be saved in the folder "sequence" with the filename "new" with a file extension of "esq". The problem is that your machine would be not able to read this back so you can stitch it again.

Fle esq

By selecting the (A) icon on the picture below, you can see that the file extension (B) changed to "emb" for embroidery. If you would touch the o.k. button now, it would save the design in the correct format in the "sequence" folder of your machine.
Since the "sequence" folder is for embroidery sequence you programmed, I would not save this design in this folder. In a few days you might never find it again. So let's change the folder where we will save this design.
Touch the icon with the arrow down on it. (C).

Change to emb

In the picture below you see that the root folder line <DIR> is selected. Please touch the o.k. button now.

Select root

Seeing only a backslash on the directory line without a name in front of it (A), indicates that we are going to be in the top directory of our machine after we touch the icon (B).

Root directory

We are now in the directory where we want to save our design. (A) By using the eraser (B) we will replace the name "new" with a more suitable name for the design.

new name

The new name "ABCD" is given. Touch the o.k. icon.

After you touched o.k. the screen below comes up and it will save your design.

That was no that hard was it? Now go back do this a couple of time so you get comfortable with this process.
